Phil's Feedback on Version 1.1 & our Proposal Presentation - Katie
- We divided up this presentation using the headings on the proposal template. We then numbered each section based on the order they appeared in the presentation. We thought this would help divide the presentation into clear, distinct chapters and make the information easier to digest. Phil explained to us that using these numbered title slides actually implies that the numbers are "important"--for example, the client could think that Objectives being number 4 implies that the number 4 is "relevant" to our proposal. This means they are a distraction and were "only relevant to [us], not to me." We should get rid of these numbers so that we avoid confusing our client.
- We need to remove the entire introductory section. The section from the proposal template where we outline the roles of our team is not relevant to this presentation. This presentation is "a proposal presentation, it should just about the proposal."
- The physical copy of our proposal looked like "a parish newsletter."
- The text on the actual project proposal being centre aligned was "unprofessional" and "difficult to read." Our next version has to be either justified left or justified right.
- We were not supposed to create a unique name for our project. All of the groups are supposed to use the names Phil created when he outlined the three options on the class website. The name of our project is PERIL to avoid "overcomplicating things."
- We needed less text and more visuals. We spent too much of the presentation reading off information instead of using our slide as a tool to break down this information using simple visuals and key words so we can keeping our client engaged.
- Our synopsis should not include any technical language like "algorithm" or "deep learning models."
- The section about the aim should not be called "Our Aim." It should be called "Project Aim."
- The aim is not meant to outline the functionality of the AI tool we are designing and how we think it will function. The aim should outline the problem we are hoping to solve using our solution, which just so happens to be an AI tool.
- Our objectives should not cover objectives we have already achieved. We should only discuss objectives that we going to achieve going forward.
