Preparation Project- Tala Dabbagh

 Computer world: I found it interesting that they have a global section where you can choose a country to read news about. I found that the website is quite different from other news websites in terms of colours. The website used red and black which is different from the usual black and white often found in science or technology related websites. The articles and videos that can be found on the website are quite interesting and fascinating, however I found it strange that the website articles often focused on apple alone, there was little that could be found in regards to competitors such as Samsung.

New scientist: I found the website to be highly organised, it’s useful that the sections were divided to every category of science. It’s easy to navigate to the preferred section. I also found it interesting that there was a podcast, similar to other science websites although not popular. I found it interesting that the website also provided courses, tours and job offers 

Time: Time magazine had a unique concept that I found interesting, They provided an option for a kids page. This feature was unique to the page, I liked the inclusivity found. A second interesting feature was the coupons that were available on the website. Both are features not found in any of the other websites.

Scientific American: I found the website to be bleak with a very repetitive layout. Navigating was difficult and the layout was inconvenient. However I found a unique feature as the website had an Arabic option. This was the only website that had a language feature

 

Flipboard: flipboard was very interesting. I found it to be visually appealing. The website provided comments and features which resemble the old layout of Instagram. I found that to be very interesting and visually appealing. The colours were easy on the eye and the website was easy to navigate 

StumbleUpon: StumbleUpon website had an interesting layout that I found to resemble a mix of Facebook, tiktok and Pinterest . There was the feature of likes and dislikes Embedded into the website which makes it stand out from other websites. The page layout was different to other similar websites and was visually appealing 

TED: TED provided a playlist section on its website, the layout made the experience a lot more convenient and smooth. It was easy to navigate
