Prototyping

To start after the research presentation

Purpose is to learn what ideas will work best, to get early feedback and to fail safely and have time to improve on it without creating a problem for the project.

Prototype, early version of a product / experimental version of an idea

Clearly define the end goal

Aim
Evaluate, design and test its viability

Proof of principle
Paper prototype
Visual prototype
UX prototype
Functional prototype

What the user needs

Create a list
Make it rough
Don't think of order to start
When you have the order create categories or importance

Prototype early to allow user feedback to help guide the product in the right idea not to waste time working on a bad idea.

Faster to make changes on paper prototype and the more work done on paper will make it faster and easier to work on your high fidelity prototype on digital platforms.

Avoid colour pallets, for later in the process

Avoid boxes with a cross in them, need to show what it will actually look like

When testing,

Introduce, Explain the problem, Guide the tester, Get feedback and ask questions

Be sure and know exactly what the product is supposed to do

We have a problem

We need a solution

The solution is the idea

A great idea is a great solution
